“I was born and raised and work in Labrador and the challenges accessing food in Labrador are many: access, affordability, and quality to name a few,” says Lynn Blackwood.

 “I wanted to provide a voice for Labradorians on this very important topic.”

 In that respect, Lynn feels that Food First NL has been very successful in bringing the conversation of food security forward.

 “The importance of food security is better understood by many,” says Lynn. “Food security can mean so many more things other than access to food.”

Lynn has been a board member of Food First NL for the last six years. She joined the board as a Regional Nutritionist representative. “Food security has a profound impact on health,” says Blackwood.

 Though her term ends at this month’s AGM, she hopes to see Food First NL continue to inform the public and leaders of the province on the importance of food security, and continue to advocate for policies that help people access food and gain food literacy skills.
