LLEAG’s Provincial Election Advocacy
The people of Newfoundland and Labrador are stretching impossibly small budgets, working additional jobs, and doing everything they can to put food on the table and keep roofs over heads. It’s time for the provincial government to do better by residents, it is time to put people over profit.
Follow the Lived and Living Experience Advisory Group (LLEAG)’s Facebook page to stay up to date on our advocacy.
Open Letter
The Lived and Living Experience Advisory Group invites everyone to sign our Open Letter to political party leaders and candidates. If you are tired of the rich getting richer while the rest of us struggle to get by, this letter is for you.
Our Open Letter demands that the provincial government do better by residents and finally put people over profit.
Policy Recommendations
We have three main policy recommendations for how the provincial government can put people over profits:
1. Put more money in the pockets of low- and middle-income people. This includes:
Creating a Guaranteed Basic Income
Raising and indexing Income Support rates to inflation
Detaching the NL Disability Benefit from the Canada Disability Tax Credit
2. Protect that increased income from profit-hungry businesses. This includes:
Investing in small food retailers and producers
Protect renters and non-market housing
3. Prioritize Labradorians

Interview with Provincial Candidates
On September 22nd, our members sat down with Craig Pardy (PC), Laurabel Mba (NDP), and Bernard Davis (Liberal). They asked candidates about:
income supports and a basic income
centring farmers’ needs and prioritizing local food
ensuring school meal program access for all students
and more
