Regional Wellness Coalitions - Upcoming Community Grant Deadlines

The Regional Wellness Coalitions provide grants up to $1000 to coalition members with projects focusing on wellness priority areas. See each application for more details. Two Regional Wellness Coalitions have grant deadlines coming up:

 

Seniors Community Recreation Grant Program

Deadline: December 23, 2013

The Seniors Community Recreation Grant Program is a strategic initiative supported by the provincial government's recreation and sport strategy, Active Healthy Newfoundland and Labrador (2007), designed to encourage participation and increase accessibility to sport, physical activity and recreation opportunities within the province. Grants up to $2000 are available to assist in providing opportunities for seniors to increase their physical activity levels, especially in social settings. Seed Facilitation Fund: Scaling Up and Bulking Up Ecological Vegetable Seed and Grains Deadline: December 31

Canada’s farmers, seed producers, processors and retailers need high quality grains and vegetable seeds in the quantities and varieties appropriate for their operations and markets. The Bauta Family Initiative on Canadian Seed Security will support producers and organizations looking to expand, diversify, and/or integrate seed production into their operations. The funding targets ecologically produced vegetable seeds and grains (both seed and food crops of grains are eligible).

 

Project Orange Thumb Community Garden Grants

Fiskars Project Orange Thumb offers grants to community garden groups and civic organizations in the U.S. or Canada. Your organization could receive $5,000 in cash and garden tools to help you reach your goals of community change, or could even be the recipient of a complete garden makeover, in which the Project Orange Thumb team comes to your neighborhood and turns unused space into a beautiful community garden in just one day! Sow it Forward Grants for Food Gardens

Deadline: January 5, 2014

Sow It Forward is the grants and partnership program of Kitchen Gardeners International. The grant is for nonprofit causes or organizations interested in starting or expanding food garden projects that are of general benefit to their community.  Past grantees include school gardens, community gardens, food bank gardens, library gardens, senior gardens, prison gardens and homeless shelter gardens among others. Majesta Trees of Knowledge School Outdoor Classroom

Community Capital Grant Program

Deadline: March 1, 2014

The Community Capital Grant Program is a strategic initiative supported by the provincial governments recreation and sport strategy, Active Healthy Newfoundland and Labrador (2007), designed to encourage participation and increase accessibility to sport, physical activity and recreation opportunities within the province.

Funding is available to retrofit and renovate existing facilities to increase use, minimize operating costs, and improve safety and accessibility. The development of new small scale facilities such as playgrounds, trails and multipurpose courts are also supported through this program.
